Adani Group, Embraer finalise Dholera for setting up aircraft assembly line
Business To Business, New Delhi, 16th June, 2026: The Adani Group and Embraer have reportedly finalized Dholera as the location for a final assembly line for Embraer's regional aircraft, marking a significant step in efforts to establish aircraft manufacturing capabilities in India.
The development follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in January between Adani Defence & Aerospace and Embraer for strategic collaboration on regional transport aircraft.
Dholera Special Investment Region has emerged as one of India's major industrial and manufacturing hubs due to:
- Large land availability.
- Planned industrial infrastructure.
- Connectivity through road, rail, and upcoming airport facilities.
- Government support for advanced manufacturing.
- Integration with the broader "Make in India" initiative.
The proposed assembly line would represent an important milestone for India's aerospace sector by:
- Expanding domestic aircraft manufacturing capabilities.
- Supporting technology transfer and skill development.
- Creating high-value jobs in aerospace engineering and production.
- Strengthening India's aviation supply chain ecosystem.
- Potentially serving both domestic and export markets.
Embraer, one of the world's leading aircraft manufacturers, opened an office in New Delhi in October 2025 and has been actively exploring opportunities in India across:
- Commercial aviation.
- Regional transport aircraft.
- Defence aviation.
- Maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services.
- Aerospace manufacturing.
The Brazilian company is also promoting its
KC-390 Millennium for India's military transport aircraft requirements.
If implemented, the Dholera facility could position India as a regional manufacturing base for Embraer's aircraft and further strengthen the country's ambitions to become a global aerospace manufacturing hub. The project would also complement ongoing efforts to attract investment in high-technology sectors and deepen India-Brazil industrial cooperation.
While details regarding investment size, production capacity, and timelines have not yet been officially disclosed, the finalization of Dholera as the site suggests that the project is moving closer to implementation.
