Business To Business, New Delhi, 05th July, 2026: Akasa Air plans to operate flights under the Centre's regional air connectivity scheme, UDAN, as it continues to expand its domestic network and fleet, Chief Executive Officer Vinay Dube said.
The airline, which is set to complete four years of commercial operations next month, is witnessing a steady induction of new aircraft, with Dube stating that planes are joining the fleet at a "very steady and predictable pace."
So far this year, Akasa Air has taken delivery of nine Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The carrier has placed orders for a total of 226 aircraft, of which the remaining 186 are scheduled to be delivered by the end of 2032, significantly strengthening its long-term growth plans.
Dube said the airline is targeting a capacity increase of around 30 per cent during the current financial year. Over the next four to five years, capacity growth is expected to remain in the range of 30-40 per cent annually, reflecting the carrier's aggressive expansion strategy.
The planned participation in the government's UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme is expected to enable Akasa Air to enhance regional connectivity by serving underserved and unserved destinations while complementing its broader domestic network.
Backed by a rapidly expanding fleet and sustained capacity growth, Akasa Air aims to strengthen its position in India's fast-growing aviation market while contributing to improved regional air connectivity under the government's flagship aviation initiative.
