Arunachal inks pact for developing 1,750-mw hydropower project

Business To Business, Itanagar, 28th May, 2026:   The government of Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday signed an agreement with Greenko Group’s subsidiary, Greenko Demwe Power Ltd, for the development of the 1,750-MW Demwe Lower Hydroelectric Project.
According to an official statement, the agreement marks one of the largest hydropower collaborations in the state involving a private-sector developer. The project will be built on the Lohit River near the pilgrimage sites of Parshuram Kund and Brahma Kund.
The initiative is expected to significantly boost Arunachal Pradesh’s hydropower capacity, leveraging the state’s large river systems and mountainous terrain for renewable energy generation. It also reflects growing public-private partnerships in India’s clean energy sector, particularly in the northeastern region.
