Business To Business, Guwahati, 04th July, 2026: Assam recorded a 15 per cent year-on-year growth in Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection in June, outperforming the national average and emerging as one of the country's best-performing major states, Finance Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah said on Saturday.
The state's GST collection stood at Rs 1,437 crore in June 2026, compared with Rs 1,255 crore in the corresponding month last year.
"June 2026 witnessed 15 per cent GST growth compared to June 2025, well above the national average of 9 per cent, placing Assam among the country's top-performing major states," Baruah said.
The minister said the robust growth reflects the state's improving economic activity, better tax compliance and sustained efforts by the government to strengthen revenue mobilisation.
