Business To Business, Kolkata, 05th July, 2026: The foundation stones for two major manufacturing expansion projects by Shyam Steel and Lux Industries will be laid in West Bengal later this month, marking some of the first significant industrial investments to be implemented since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) formed the government in the state.
State Industries Minister Tapas Roy said the foundation stone for hosiery major Lux Industries' manufacturing expansion project at Dankuni in Hooghly district will be laid on July 11. This will be followed by the launch of diversified steelmaker Shyam Steel's expansion project at Mejia in Bankura district on July 18.
Roy said Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari is expected to attend both foundation stone-laying ceremonies, underlining the government's focus on accelerating industrial growth and attracting fresh investments into the state.
The proposed projects are expected to boost manufacturing capacity, generate employment opportunities and strengthen West Bengal's industrial ecosystem. They also signal the beginning of the BJP government's efforts to translate investment proposals into on-ground projects after assuming office.
The state government has identified industrial expansion and ease of doing business as key priorities, with the upcoming projects expected to pave the way for additional investments across sectors in the months ahead.
