Business To Business, Bhogapuram, 01th August, 2026: The newly inaugurated Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram, near Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, will commence commercial flight operations on August 17, with an initial annual passenger handling capacity of six million, the GMR Group announced on Saturday.
The airport, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is the second greenfield airport in the country to become operational this year, following the commencement of commercial operations at Jewar Airport in Uttar Pradesh on June 15.
According to GMR Group, the airport project was completed several months ahead of schedule.
The airport has been designed with an initial capacity to handle six million passengers annually, which will be expanded in phases to 40 million passengers per year as traffic grows.
The new facility is expected to strengthen air connectivity for the Visakhapatnam region, boost tourism and trade, and support Andhra Pradesh's growing aviation infrastructure.
