BMW rolls out MINI Countryman C locally with introductory price of Rs 47.5 lakh

Business To Business, Chennai, 17th June, 2026:     In a significant move to strengthen its presence in India's luxury automobile market, BMW Group India on Wednesday launched the locally assembled MINI Countryman C at an introductory price of ₹47.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

  • Model: MINI Countryman C
  • Introductory price: ₹47.50 lakh (ex-showroom)
  • Manufacturing: Locally assembled in India
  • Production facility: BMW Group Plant Chennai
  • Fuel type: Petrol
The new Countryman C marks the transition of the model from a Completely Built Unit (CBU) import to local assembly in India.
Local assembly generally offers several advantages:
  • Lower import duties compared with fully imported vehicles.
  • More competitive pricing.
  • Improved availability and shorter delivery timelines.
  • Stronger localization of the brand's operations.
According to Hardeep Singh Brar, assembling the SUV locally has enabled the company to offer a more compelling value proposition to premium urban customers.
The move reflects BMW Group India's broader strategy of increasing localization to expand its reach in the growing luxury vehicle segment.
The MINI Countryman C is expected to compete in the premium compact SUV category, targeting buyers seeking:
  • Distinctive design and brand identity.
  • Premium interiors and features.
  • Urban practicality.
  • Performance-oriented driving dynamics.
India's luxury vehicle market has been witnessing steady growth, driven by:
  • Rising disposable incomes.
  • Increasing demand for premium SUVs.
  • Growing interest in globally recognized brands.
  • Expansion of luxury car ownership beyond major metropolitan cities.
The local assembly of the MINI Countryman C is likely to make the model more accessible to a broader segment of luxury-car buyers while reinforcing MINI's long-term commitment to the Indian market.
