Business To Business, New Delhi, 01th August, 2026: Product management roles are expanding rapidly as organisations increasingly embrace product-led growth and digital transformation. However, industry reports suggest that workforce readiness has not kept pace with rising demand, creating a significant capability gap.
According to the McKinsey & Company Project Management Index 2025, fewer than half of product managers feel fully prepared for their roles, highlighting the need for stronger skill development and practical training.
The challenge extends beyond individual readiness. The Deloitte Digital Project Management 2025 report found that 43 per cent of new product launches fail to achieve their business objectives, with execution-related issues identified as a major contributing factor.
These findings underscore a broader industry trend: while demand for product management talent continues to grow, many professionals lack clear pathways to enter the field or advance within it.
One of the most common obstacles cited by aspiring and early-career product managers is the lack of hands-on experience in real product environments, making it difficult to translate theoretical knowledge into practical execution. This experience gap remains a key hurdle for professionals seeking to build successful careers in product management.
