Business To Business, Mumbai, 01th August, 2026: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR against Reliance Capital Limited (RCL) and its former chairman Anil D. Ambani over allegations of causing a wrongful loss of Rs 1,816.22 crore to the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), officials said on Saturday.
The agency's action follows a July 21 complaint from the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment, which alleged offences including cheating, criminal conspiracy, and causing wrongful loss to the EPFO.
According to officials, the FIR has been registered to investigate the allegations contained in the ministry's complaint.
Anil Ambani has denied any wrongdoing. In a statement issued through his spokesperson, he rejected the allegations against him.
The registration of an FIR marks the commencement of a formal criminal investigation. The allegations are yet to be tested in court, and no findings of guilt have been established at this stage.
