CBI conducts searches in Rs 661 cr IDFC First Bank-AU Finance Bank fraud case

Business To Business, New Delhi, 7th June, 2026:  The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has conducted searches at six locations across Chandigarh, Panchkula, and the Delhi-NCR region in connection with an alleged fraud of ₹661 crore.
The investigation relates to the suspected siphoning and misappropriation of government funds belonging to departments of the Haryana government and the Chandigarh administration.
Searches were carried out at premises linked to senior Haryana-cadre public servants as well as Vipam Consultancy Pvt Ltd and its director.
According to the CBI, the probe concerns funds that were reportedly parked with IDFC FIRST Bank and AU Small Finance Bank and were allegedly diverted or misused.
Departments Affected
The agency has stated that the alleged fraud impacted:

  • Eight departments of the Haryana government.
  • Two departments of the Chandigarh administration:
    • Municipal Corporation Chandigarh
    • Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science and Technology Promotion Society
Current Status
  • The searches were part of an ongoing investigation.
  • The CBI is examining the roles of public officials and private entities in the alleged diversion of funds.
  • Evidence collected during the raids is expected to help determine how the money was handled and whether criminal misconduct, corruption, or financial irregularities occurred.
