Chhattisgarh gets Rs 50 cr Central assistance for compressed biogas ecosystem

Business To Business Raipur, 06 August, 2026:   Chhattisgarh has received an incentive of Rs 50 crore from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) Scheme for its efforts to develop a compressed biogas (CBG) ecosystem, officials said on Thursday.
According to a state government statement:

  • Chhattisgarh has become the first state in India to receive financial assistance under the SASCI scheme specifically for promoting the CBG ecosystem.
  • The incentive has been approved under the SASCI 2026–27 scheme.
  • The Ministry recognised the state's innovative initiatives and effective implementation in promoting compressed biogas projects.
The financial assistance is intended to support the expansion of the state's CBG ecosystem, which involves producing biogas from agricultural residue, animal waste and other organic materials. The initiative is expected to contribute to cleaner energy, improved waste management and reduced dependence on conventional fossil fuels.
