Court asks Naresh Goyal to appear before framing of charges in money laundering case

Business To Business New Delhi, 06 August, 2026:   A special court on Thursday directed Naresh Goyal to appear before it on August 10 for the framing of charges in a money laundering case.
The court also rejected Goyal's request for a further adjournment to file a discharge application.
The special judge hearing cases under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) observed that:

  • The case has been pending since 2023.
  • The accused had not taken steps to file a discharge application over the past three years.
  • In view of the delay, there was no justification for granting additional time.
Accordingly, the court directed Goyal to remain present on August 10, when it is scheduled to proceed with the framing of charges in the money laundering proceedings.
The framing of charges is a procedural stage in a criminal case and does not amount to a finding of guilt. The allegations against Goyal remain subject to adjudication during the trial.
