Business Aajkal, New Delhi, 16 June 2025: Early rains in several regions of the country in June led to a decline in fuel consumption, with diesel demand turning negative again after two months of growth, according to provisional industry data.
Following two months of strong consumption increases, petrol demand slowed to 2.3 percent, amounting to 1.4 million tonnes in the first half of June, based on sales data from three major state-owned fuel retailers that account for around 90 percent of the market.
Notably, petrol demand had nearly risen by 9 percent in May, highlighting a significant slowdown in June due to the weather conditions.
