Business To Business, Kathmandu, 22nd May, 2026: Traders in Nepal will now be able to resume tea exports to India without disruption after diplomatic efforts resolved issues linked to new import regulations.
“The obstacle in exporting Nepalese tea to India has been removed through diplomatic initiatives,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lok Bahadur Chhetri told the press.
Exports of Nepalese tea had recently faced difficulties because of new directives issued by the Tea Board of India. The revised provisions temporarily affected shipments from Nepal to India, creating concerns among traders and exporters.
The latest development is expected to ease trade flows between the two neighbouring countries and provide relief to Nepal’s tea industry, which relies significantly on the Indian market for exports.
