Business To Business, New Delhi, 04th July, 2026: The Finance Ministry has notified the rules for determining the origin of goods under the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), which will come into effect from July 15, according to an official notification.
The notified rules prescribe the criteria for establishing the origin of goods eligible for preferential tariff treatment under the bilateral trade agreement.
A certificate of origin is a crucial document required by exporters to claim duty concessions under India's free trade agreements with partner countries. It certifies that the exported goods meet the prescribed origin criteria under the agreement.
The rules are intended to ensure that only products genuinely originating in India or the United Kingdom receive preferential tariff benefits, preventing goods from third countries from improperly accessing concessions available under the India-UK CETA.
