Business To Business, New Delhi, 14th May 2026: The Department of Fisheries will explore the possibility of introducing a production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for MSMEs operating in the seafood sector, according to an official statement issued on Thursday.
The proposed initiative is aimed at improving international competitiveness, strengthening export-oriented infrastructure, encouraging technology adoption, supporting research and development, and promoting value addition in the seafood industry.
“The Department of Fisheries will explore developing a dedicated PLI scheme for MSMEs in the seafood sector,” the Ministry of Commerce and Industry said.
The move is expected to support small and medium enterprises engaged in fisheries and seafood exports while helping India enhance its position in global seafood markets through improved processing, innovation and supply-chain capabilities.
