FPIs reverse 4-month selling trend with Rs 20,200 cr inflow in July
Business To Business, New Delhi, 02 August, 2026: After four consecutive months of net selling, Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) turned net buyers of Indian equities in July, investing Rs 20,200 crore. The reversal was driven by attractive market valuations, improving corporate earnings, and easing global headwinds.
The latest inflow marks a significant turnaround from the heavy outflows seen in the previous four months. According to data from Central Depository Services (India) Limited:
- July: Net inflow of Rs 20,200 crore
- June: Net outflow of Rs 49,340 crore
- May: Net outflow of Rs 32,963 crore
- April: Net outflow of Rs 60,847 crore
- March: Net outflow of Rs 1.17 lakh crore
Before this four-month selling streak, FPIs had invested
Rs 22,615 crore in Indian equities in
February.
The renewed foreign investment reflects improving investor confidence in the Indian market, supported by better-than-expected corporate earnings, relatively attractive valuations after the recent correction, and a more favourable global macroeconomic environment.
