GeM surpasses Rs 20 lakh cr procurement

Business To Business New Delhi, 07 August, 2026:    Government e-Marketplace (GeM) on Friday announced that it has facilitated the procurement of goods and services worth more than Rs 20 lakh crore since its launch in August 2016.
Key highlights

  • Total procurement since launch: Over Rs 20 lakh crore.
  • Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) in the first four months of FY 2026–27: Rs 1,47,888 crore.
Growth over the past decade
According to GeM:
  • Number of sellers has grown from 3,339 at launch to 25.45 lakh.
  • Primary buyer organisations have increased from 1,707 to 1.37 lakh.
The figures highlight the expansion of GeM as the government's digital procurement platform, enabling ministries, departments, public sector enterprises and other government entities to procure goods and services electronically while broadening participation from businesses across the country.
