Gujarat CM, Russia's Astrakhan Governor agree to enhance ties

Business To Business, Ahmedabad, 20th May, 2026:  Bhupendra Patel and Igor Babushkin on Wednesday agreed to accelerate cooperation between Gujarat and Astrakhan Oblast in areas such as trade, education and shipbuilding during a virtual meeting.
According to an official statement, Patel also conveyed Gujarat’s willingness to cooperate in transport and logistics linked to the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC).
He additionally highlighted investment and collaboration opportunities available in Gujarat’s shipbuilding sector.
The two regions had signed a protocol cooperation agreement in 2001, which remains valid until November 6, 2026, providing a framework for continued bilateral engagement between India and Russia at the regional level.
