Hero MotorCorp unveils first flex fuel motorcycles compatible with up to 85pc blended fuel

Business To Business, New Delhi, 3rd June, 2026:   Hero MotoCorp on Wednesday launched India’s first flex-fuel motorcycles, introducing ethanol-compatible versions of its popular commuter models—Hero Splendor+ Flex Fuel and Hero HF Deluxe Flex Fuel.
Key highlights of the launch

  • The motorcycles can run on petrol blended with up to 85% ethanol (E85).
  • Pricing (ex-showroom Delhi):
    • HF Deluxe Flex Fuel: ₹72,792
    • Splendor+ Flex Fuel: ₹82,710
Rollout plan
  • Initial launch in Delhi and select regions of Maharashtra in July 2026.
  • A nationwide rollout is planned shortly after the phased introduction.
Significance
The introduction of flex-fuel variants marks a major step in India’s push toward cleaner and alternative fuels, particularly ethanol blending, which aims to:
  • Reduce dependence on imported crude oil
  • Lower vehicular emissions
  • Support India’s biofuel economy
Hero MotoCorp’s move positions it among the first manufacturers in India to commercially offer mass-market flex-fuel motorcycles, especially in the high-volume commuter segment dominated by models like Splendor and HF Deluxe.
The development is also aligned with broader government efforts to promote ethanol blending in transport fuels as part of India’s energy transition strategy.
