Business To Business, New Delhi, 02nd July, 2026: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has proposed amendments to the Automotive Industry Standard (AIS)-125 to enhance the safety, functionality and medical capabilities of road ambulances across the country.
Road ambulances play a critical role in emergency healthcare by ensuring the timely transportation of patients to hospitals and providing advanced life support for critically ill or injured individuals during transit.
The proposed amendments aim to strengthen existing standards and improve the quality, reliability and effectiveness of ambulance services in line with evolving healthcare and emergency response requirements.
The ministry had notified the Automotive Industry Standard AIS-125 (Part 1) on September 8, 2016, to prescribe constructional and functional requirements for road ambulances and ensure uniform safety and operational standards across the country.
