Himachal's first-ever export shipment of cherries and plums reaches Oman

Business To Business, Shimla, 02nd July, 2026:   Himachal Pradesh has achieved a milestone in horticultural exports with the first-ever consignment of fresh cherries and plums reaching Oman, opening up a new international market for the state's fruit growers, officials said on Thursday.
The export shipment, comprising 400 kg of cherries and 400 kg of plums, was flagged off by Himachal Pradesh Horticulture Minister Jagat Singh Negi.
Following the consignment's arrival in Oman, the Embassy of India in Muscat launched a promotional campaign to showcase the fruits across retail outlets. According to officials, the produce received an encouraging response from consumers.
The successful export is expected to create new opportunities for Himachal Pradesh's horticulture sector, helping farmers access overseas markets and secure better prices for their produce while strengthening the state's presence in international fruit trade.
