HP govt to provide 70 pc subsidy for cold storages, freeze-dry units, refrigerated vans

Business To Business, Shimla, 10 August 2026:  The Himachal Pradesh government will provide a 70% subsidy to eligible beneficiaries for setting up 5-metric-tonne cold storages, freeze-dry units and refrigerated vans across the state, officials said on Sunday.
Under the scheme, the approved unit costs have been fixed at:

  • 5 MT cold storage: Rs 15 lakh
  • Freeze-dry unit: Rs 10 lakh
  • Refrigerated van: Rs 20 lakh
The initiative is aimed at strengthening post-harvest infrastructure and reducing losses of fish and other perishable products.
Eligible beneficiaries
The scheme will benefit a wide range of stakeholders, including:
  • Fish Farmers Producer Organisations (FFPOs)
  • Fish Cooperative Societies
  • Entrepreneurs
  • Unemployed youth
  • Self-help groups
  • Individual fishermen
  • Fish vendors
  • Fish farmers
The subsidy is expected to encourage investment in cold-chain infrastructure, improve preservation and transportation of fish products, and support income generation in Himachal Pradesh's fisheries sector.
