India's Toll collection growth likely to moderate 5-7 pc amid West Asia conflict: Crisil
Business To Business, New Delhi, 27th May, 2026: CRISIL has projected that India’s toll collection growth could slow to 5–7% in the current financial year, citing the impact of the West Asia conflict and broader geopolitical uncertainties on economic activity.
According to the rating agency, disruptions linked to the conflict are affecting:
- Freight movement
- Commercial vehicle traffic
- Industrial activity and logistics demand
CRISIL said the slowdown could reduce annual toll collection growth by around 150–200 basis points compared to earlier expectations.
The agency, however, described the underperformance as temporary. It expects growth to recover in the next financial year, supported by:
- Higher toll rate hikes driven by inflation
- Gradual normalization in commercial traffic
- Continued infrastructure expansion and highway usage
India’s toll revenues are closely linked to traffic volumes on national highways, especially movement of trucks and commercial vehicles. Any slowdown in manufacturing, trade, or fuel demand generally affects toll growth across road infrastructure projects.
