Indian cos commit USD 6.8 bn overseas FDI in Apr; nearly USD 6 mn in Azerbaijan, Turkiye

Business Aajkal, NEW DELHI, 14 May 2025: According to the latest data from the Reserve Bank of India, four Indian entities committed foreign direct investments (FDI) totaling nearly USD 6 million in Azerbaijan and Turkiye. This amount represents a small fraction of the total USD 6.8 billion overseas investments proposed by Indian companies in April.
India’s outbound FDI saw a significant increase of nearly 90% year-on-year, reaching USD 6.8 billion in April. Major contributors to this surge included Tata Communications, Life Insurance Corporation, and JSW Neo Energy.
For context, India’s outward FDI was approximately USD 3.59 billion in April 2024 and USD 5.9 billion in March 2025, reflecting a strong upward trend in overseas investments.
