Industrialist Sajjan Jindal calls on graduates to help bridge India-China economic gap

Business To Business, New Delhi, 15th May 2026: Sajjan Jindal on Friday urged graduating students of Ahmedabad University to see India’s development journey as an opportunity to contribute to nation-building and help reduce the economic gap with China.
Speaking at the university’s 16th annual convocation, Jindal said India was passing through a defining phase in its modern history.
“India is not a market, it is a mission,” he said, while highlighting that the country is among the world’s fastest-growing major economies and has one of the largest populations globally.
Jindal noted that despite having a population nearly comparable to China’s, India’s GDP remains roughly one-fifth of its neighbour’s economy, underscoring the scale of the opportunity and challenge ahead.
The JSW Group chairman encouraged students to focus on innovation, industrial growth and long-term nation-building as India seeks to expand its global economic footprint.
