LPG price hiked by Rs 29 per 14.2-kg cylinder

Business To Business, New Delhi, 7th June, 2026:   The price of domestic LPG (cooking gas) has been increased by ₹29 per cylinder, effective June 7.
In Delhi, the price of a standard 14.2-kg LPG cylinder has risen from ₹913 to ₹942.
This is the second LPG price hike in three months, following a ₹60-per-cylinder increase on March 7.
Together, the two revisions have raised the price of a domestic LPG cylinder by ₹89 since March.
Reason for the Increase

  • State-owned oil marketing companies have been facing higher costs due to elevated international LPG prices.
  • Global energy markets have remained under pressure following disruptions linked to conflict in West Asia.
  • According to industry sources, the earlier ₹60 hike only partially compensated retailers for losses incurred on subsidized domestic LPG sales, necessitating a further increase.
Impact on Consumers
  • Regular domestic consumers will now pay ₹942 per cylinder in Delhi.
  • Beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana continue to receive government support through LPG subsidies, reducing their effective cost compared with the market price.
Broader Context
LPG prices in India are influenced by:
  • International LPG benchmark prices.
  • Exchange-rate movements.
  • Import and transportation costs.
  • Government subsidy policies.
Key takeaway: The latest ₹29 increase reflects continued pressure from high global LPG prices. While it helps reduce losses for state-owned fuel retailers, it also raises household cooking fuel costs, making it the second price hike since March.
