Nestle India rejects allegations over Maggi infestation, says tests confirm product quality

Business To Business, Mumbai, 13^th June, 2026: Nestlé India has rejected allegations circulating on social media regarding the alleged presence of infestation in Maggi Noodles, stating that laboratory testing found the products to be compliant with all applicable quality and food safety standards.
In a clarification submitted to the stock exchanges after queries from the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE Ltd., Nestlé India said it became aware of the complaint through the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
The company stated:
"We categorically reject allegations circulating on media basis an unverified account regarding the presence of infestation, allegedly on MAGGI noodles."
According to the company:

Testing was carried out on the specific batch referred to in the complaint.
Additional market samples were also examined.
The results confirmed compliance with quality requirements.
The products met applicable food safety standards.

Nestlé India said the concerns originated from an unverified account on X (formerly Twitter) and that the allegations subsequently gained attention on social media platforms.
The company emphasized that its internal and laboratory assessments did not support the claims being circulated online.
The matter came to Nestlé India's notice after communication from FSSAI, India's apex food safety regulator. The company said it cooperated with the relevant processes and conducted the necessary testing.
Food manufacturers routinely conduct quality-control checks and laboratory testing to ensure products comply with safety standards. Allegations related to food contamination or infestation often trigger verification procedures involving manufacturers and, where necessary, regulatory authorities.
Based on the tests conducted, Nestlé India maintains that:

The allegations are unfounded.
No infestation was found in the tested samples.
The products comply with prescribed quality and food safety norms.

The clarification was issued in response to market and investor queries following media reports related to the social media allegations.
