Business To Business, New Delhi, 30th July, 2026: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on Thursday launched a nationwide initiative to develop world-class public toilet facilities at toll plazas, aiming to enhance commuter convenience and improve sanitation along the National Highway network.
In a statement, NHAI said the initiative will upgrade sanitation blocks at toll plazas through an innovative performance-based contract framework, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, functionality and long-term maintenance.
As part of the programme, the authority will renovate existing toilet blocks and construct new facilities wherever required.
The upgraded facilities will feature standardised, indigenously developed designs incorporating robust structural elements along with sustainable and green building infrastructure.
The initiative is intended to improve the travel experience for highway users by providing clean, accessible and well-maintained public sanitation facilities across the National Highway network.
