Punjab ministers Arora, Sood inaugurate 66 kV Grid Substation in Derabassi

Business To Business, New Delhi, 8th June, 2026:  Aman Arora and Tarunpreet Singh Sond inaugurated a newly commissioned 66 kV Grid Substation at Focal Point, Mubarikpur, in Derabassi, Punjab.
The project has been built at an estimated cost of ₹9.60 crore.
Key Features

  • The substation has a capacity of 40 MVA (MegaVolt-Amperes).
  • It is designed to strengthen power infrastructure in the rapidly developing areas of:
    • Mubarikpur
    • Derabassi
    • Lalru
According to the official statement, the new facility will:
  • Improve the reliability and quality of electricity supply.
  • Reduce the load on existing power infrastructure.
  • Support growing industrial activity in the region.
  • Provide better power availability to residential consumers.
The substation is expected to benefit industries located in the Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation Limited Focal Point at Mubarikpur, as well as nearby industrial units and residential neighborhoods.
Reliable electricity is a critical requirement for industrial growth. By expanding grid capacity in one of Punjab's developing industrial belts, the project is intended to support manufacturing, attract investment, and improve service delivery to businesses and households.
The new 66 kV, 40 MVA substation at Mubarikpur is aimed at strengthening power infrastructure in the Derabassi-Lalru industrial corridor, improving electricity reliability for industries and residents while easing pressure on the existing network.
