RBI to buy back bonds worth Rs 20,000 cr on Jul 28

Business To Business, Mumbai, 24th July, 2026:   The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Thursday announced a buyback of government securities worth Rs 20,000 crore, with the auction scheduled for July 28.
According to an RBI notification, the buyback auction will be conducted between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. through the Reserve Bank's Core Banking Solution, E-Kuber.
The central bank said the government will buy back several securities maturing in 2026 and 2027, including 7.33 per cent GS 2026, 5.74 per cent GS 2026, 8.15 per cent GS 2026, and 8.24 per cent GS 2027.
The buyback operation is part of the government's debt management strategy aimed at managing its outstanding liabilities and the maturity profile of government securities.
