RBI to conduct Rs 1.50 lakh cr 4-day VRR auction on May 25

Business To Business, Mumbai, 22nd May, 2026:   The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday announced that it will conduct a four-day Variable Rate Repo (VRR) auction for a notified amount of Rs 1.50 lakh crore on May 25, 2026.
According to the central bank’s notification, the auction will be held between 9:30 am and 10:00 am, while the reversal of funds is scheduled for May 29.
In its release, the RBI said the decision was taken after reviewing “current and evolving liquidity conditions” in the banking system.
A VRR auction is a liquidity management tool through which the RBI injects short-term funds into the banking system by lending money to banks against government securities at market-determined interest rates. Such measures are generally aimed at ensuring adequate liquidity and maintaining stability in short-term money markets.
