Rs 411 crore Mission 'Senehjori' launched to boost Assam's Muga Silk sector
Business To Business, Guwahati, 2nd June, 2026: Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya Scindia on Tuesday launched the Mission Muga Silk 'Senehjori', a ₹411-crore initiative aimed at strengthening Assam's traditional Muga silk sector and improving the livelihoods of more than 2.5 lakh people connected to the industry.
What is Mission Muga Silk 'Senehjori'?
The mission is designed to support:
- Muga silk rearers,
- Weavers,
- Artisans,
- Entrepreneurs,
- Other stakeholders in the Muga silk value chain.
The programme seeks to improve production, quality, marketing, and value addition across the sector.
