Rs 74 cr released for free wheat seeds, Rs 1.60 lakh per family approved for flood-hit houses in Punjab: Chouhan

Business To Business, New Delhi, 14 October 2025: On Tuesday, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that the central government has released Rs 74 crore to provide free wheat seeds to farmers in Punjab as compensation for crop losses caused by recent floods.
 
Additionally, funds have been approved for the distribution of mustard and other seed varieties.
 
During his visit to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research - Indian Institute of Maize Research (ICAR-IIMR), Chouhan inaugurated a newly constructed administrative building and engaged with maize stakeholders, farmers, beneficiaries of rural development schemes, and women Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
