SAS Advanced Analytics and AI to power governance and resolve anomalies for VAHAN (MoRTH/NIC)

Business To Business, Mumbai, 3rd June, 2026:   The e-Transport Mission Mode Project (e-Transport MMP), spearheaded by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and implemented by the National Informatics Centre, has significantly transformed transport administration in India by automating Regional Transport Office (RTO) operations across the country. The initiative has facilitated the creation of a consolidated national transport database, providing real-time access to vehicle and transport information while enabling a wide range of citizen-centric and trade-centric digital services. The project has emerged as a key component of India's e-governance efforts under the Digital India initiative.
In a major development, SAS, a global leader in data and artificial intelligence solutions, is set to enhance the Vehicle Administration and Handling Application Network (VAHAN) by leveraging advanced analytics and AI technologies. The collaboration aims to improve the platform's efficiency, reliability, and overall service delivery.
The project will focus on strengthening anomaly detection capabilities, enhancing data management processes, and improving data harmonization and quality across VAHAN's extensive and diverse datasets. By creating a unified view of vehicle and transport-related information, the initiative is expected to support faster and more informed decision-making, strengthen regulatory oversight, and deliver a better user experience for citizens accessing transport services online.
As part of the engagement, SAS will help implement advanced Vehicle Registration & Lifecycle Analytics and Enforcement Analytics solutions to identify and prioritize high-impact operational and compliance issues. Through data-driven insights, transport authorities will be better equipped to analyze trends, proactively detect risks, improve enforcement effectiveness, and design more responsive, transparent, and citizen-friendly services.
The initiative reflects the growing role of artificial intelligence and advanced analytics in modernizing public-sector digital infrastructure, enhancing governance, and improving the delivery of essential services at scale.
