Sebi simplifies transmission of securities, introduces fast-track route for low-value claims

Business To Business, Mumbai, 24th July, 2026:   Markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) on Thursday revised the framework for the transmission of securities by introducing a fast-track mechanism for low-value claims and standardising documentation requirements to make the process more efficient and investor-friendly.
The updated framework introduces Quick Transmission Processing (QTP) and revises the monetary thresholds under the simplified documentation route to expedite the transfer of securities to legal heirs or nominees.
Under the new norms, QTP will apply to claims involving securities valued at up to Rs 10,000 in physical form and Rs 30,000 for holdings in dematerialised (demat) accounts.
According to Sebi, the revised framework is aimed at simplifying the transmission process, reducing paperwork, and ensuring quicker settlement of low-value claims while enhancing ease of access for investors and their beneficiaries.
The move is expected to streamline the transmission process, improve operational efficiency, and provide faster resolution for investors dealing with the transfer of securities following the death of a holder.
