Shipping ministry working on reform-driven roadmap to accelerate maritime transformation
Business To Business, New Delhi, 26th May, 2026: Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday chaired a high-level review meeting with senior officials to discuss a reform-oriented roadmap aimed at accelerating India’s maritime sector transformation.
According to an official statement, the meeting focused on:
- Strengthening governance mechanisms
- Improving ease of doing business
- Enhancing digital integration
- Streamlining grievance redressal
- Ensuring timely implementation of maritime initiatives
The minister directed officials to establish a structured and time-bound system for the speedy disposal of:
- Public grievances
- Court and legal cases
- Pending ministry matters
- Administrative and operational issues
The review forms part of broader efforts by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways to modernise India’s maritime ecosystem and improve institutional efficiency.
Key priorities discussed reportedly include:
- Faster project execution
- Better coordination among agencies
- Technology-driven governance
- Accountability in implementation
- Improved service delivery in the maritime sector
