Siemens receives supply order from Titagarh Rail Systems for Pune Metro

Business To Business, Mumbai, 15th June, 2026:   Siemens India on Monday announced that it has secured an order from Titagarh Rail Systems Limited to supply advanced propulsion equipment and train control systems for the extension of the Pune Metro project.
While the company did not disclose the financial value of the contract, it said the order covers critical systems for 12 trainsets.
Scope of the project
Under the agreement, Siemens will be responsible for the:

  • Design
  • Manufacturing
  • Supply
  • Warranty support
of the following equipment:
  • Traction converters
  • Auxiliary converters
  • Traction motors
  • Train Control and Monitoring Systems (TCMS)
The TCMS serves as the digital backbone of modern metro trains, helping monitor, control, and diagnose onboard systems to improve operational efficiency and passenger safety.
Commenting on the order, Rajeev Joisar emphasized the importance of strengthening India's domestic rail technology ecosystem as urban transport networks expand.
He said:
"As India continues to invest in sustainable urban transportation, the development of a strong local manufacturing and technology ecosystem becomes increasingly important."
The order reflects continued investment in metro rail projects across India, where cities are increasingly adopting mass transit systems to reduce congestion, improve mobility, and support sustainable urban growth.
For Siemens, the contract strengthens its presence in India's rail mobility sector, while for Titagarh Rail Systems it supports the rollout of additional metro capacity in Pune, one of the country's fastest-growing urban centres.
