Small tea growers urge Tea Board to issue stop-plucking orders during winter dormancy

Business To Business, New Delhi, 28 October 2025: The Confederation of Indian Small Tea Growers Associations (CISTA) has appealed to the Tea Board to issue directives to halt plucking activities during the winter dormancy period in order to preserve the quality of the tea crop.

CISTA President Bijoy Gopal Chakraborty stated that the Tea Board has been issuing guidelines regarding the final dates for plucking and manufacturing during winter for both large estates and small tea growers (STGs) over the past eight years.

For the current year, CISTA has recommended that the last plucking date in West Bengal should be December 25, and December 20 for Assam.
