Tata Motors secures orders for over 3,400 electric commercial vehicles
Business To Business, New Delhi, 21st June, 2026: Tata Motors Limited on Sunday announced that it has secured orders for more than 3,400 electric commercial vehicles (eCVs) across the freight, logistics, and passenger transportation segments.
The orders include:
- Around 2,000 small commercial vehicles and pick-ups
- Approximately 900 electric trucks
- About 500 electric buses
According to the company, these vehicles will be deployed across a wide range of sectors, including e-commerce, logistics, FMCG and FMCD distribution, intra-city mobility services, cement, steel, mining, tarmac operations, and both inter-city and intra-city passenger transport.
Tata Motors said the breadth of applications demonstrates increasing customer confidence in electric mobility solutions operating under real-world commercial conditions. The company noted that businesses are moving beyond limited pilot projects and are increasingly integrating electric vehicles into their regular operations at scale.
The development reflects the growing adoption of electric commercial transportation in India, driven by factors such as lower operating costs, sustainability goals, improving charging infrastructure, and supportive government policies.
For Tata Motors, one of India's leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, the large order book strengthens its position in the emerging electric commercial vehicle market and highlights the expanding role of EVs across diverse business and transportation needs.
