Business To Business, New Delhi, 02 August, 2026: Tata Steel expects to secure electricity supply for its 3.2 million tonne electric arc furnace (EAF) project in the UK by 2029, while the construction of the facility remains on schedule, according to the company's CEO and Managing Director T. V. Narendran.
As part of its decarbonisation strategy, Tata Steel UK is building the UK's largest low-carbon electric arc furnace at Port Talbot Steelworks. The project will replace the site's non-operational blast furnace plant of similar capacity and involves an investment of £1.25 billion.
