Two-wheeler sales on Amazon.in jumps 2-fold led by tier 2, 3 cities

Business To Business, Mumbai, 13th June, 2026:    Amazon India on Friday said sales of two-wheelers on its platform have grown two times year-on-year, with demand increasingly coming from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
According to the company, buyers in smaller cities and towns are not only purchasing commuter motorcycles and scooters but are also showing growing interest in premium and electric vehicles.
Amazon said the growth story is being led largely by non-metro regions:

  • Nearly two out of every three customers purchasing two-wheelers on the platform come from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
  • For electric two-wheelers, the share rises to seven out of ten customers.
The trend suggests that online vehicle discovery and purchasing are becoming increasingly popular beyond major urban centers.
Amazon currently offers vehicles from more than 20 brands across commuter, premium, and electric segments, including:
  • Triumph Motorcycles
  • KTM
  • Royal Enfield
  • Bajaj Auto
  • Ather Energy
  • Hero MotoCorp
The company said these offerings are supported by a network of more than 3,000 OEM-authorized dealers.
The data indicates that electric mobility is gaining traction beyond metropolitan areas. Factors contributing to this trend include:
  • Expanding charging infrastructure.
  • Growing awareness of EVs.
  • Lower operating costs compared to conventional vehicles.
  • Availability of more models across price ranges.
The growth in online two-wheeler sales reflects a broader shift in consumer behavior, where buyers increasingly use digital platforms to:
  • Compare models and prices.
  • Explore financing options.
  • Connect with authorized dealers.
  • Complete significant parts of the purchase journey online.
Amazon's latest figures suggest that India's smaller cities are emerging as a major driver of demand for both conventional and electric two-wheelers, reflecting rising incomes, greater internet penetration, and increasing comfort with online commerce.
