US diplomat meets Nepal's FM to discuss ways to strengthen ties

Business To Business, Kathmandu, 1st June, 2026:   The meeting between Sarah B. Rogers and Shisir Khanal highlights ongoing efforts to deepen relations between Nepal and the United States.
According to Nepal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions focused on strengthening the long-standing partnership between the two countries, with particular attention to:

  • Investment and economic cooperation
  • Trade and business ties
  • Cultural exchanges
  • Tourism promotion
The meeting comes as both countries seek to expand engagement beyond traditional development cooperation and explore greater economic and people-to-people connections.
Rogers was also in Kathmandu to participate in the Ascent Summit 2026, where she delivered a keynote address on Sunday. Her visit reflects continued US diplomatic outreach in Nepal and the broader South Asian region.
The Nepal–US relationship spans several decades and includes cooperation in areas such as development assistance, education, disaster response, governance, and economic development. Recent engagements have increasingly emphasized investment, trade, entrepreneurship, and cultural ties as both sides look to broaden the scope of the partnership.
