West Bengal govt in talks with Tata group for fresh investments: Minister

Business To Business, Kolkata, 10 August 2026:  The West Bengal government is in discussions with the Tata Group to attract fresh investments to the state, Industry Minister Tapas Roy said on Sunday.
Roy said the government is in touch with Tata and that discussions are currently underway to explore potential investment opportunities.
The outreach comes years after Tata Motors withdrew its proposed Nano car project from Singur in October 2008 and shifted it to Sanand, Gujarat, following prolonged protests over land acquisition led by Mamata Banerjee, who was then in the opposition.
The latest discussions indicate an effort by the state government to strengthen its engagement with the Tata Group and attract new industrial investment to West Bengal.
