Bangladesh issues nationwide alert against possible attacks on police vehicles
Business To Business, Dhaka, 03 August, 2026: Bangladesh Police has issued a nationwide alert warning of possible terrorist or extremist attacks targeting vehicles used by law enforcement agencies, following intelligence inputs about a potential threat.
According to the internal directive issued by the Operations Control Branch (OCB) on Saturday:
- Police units across the country have been advised to remain on heightened alert.
- The warning relates to possible attacks on vehicles used by law enforcement personnel.
- The directive does not identify any specific terrorist or extremist group or disclose the source of the intelligence.
The alert comes ahead of the
second anniversary of the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her
Awami League government on
August 5, 2024, following a violent student-led protest movement.
While authorities have not directly linked the intelligence warning to the anniversary, the timing has prompted heightened security measures across the country as law enforcement agencies seek to prevent any potential security incidents.
