China welcomes West Asia deal, calls for early opening of Strait of Hormuz

Business To Business, Beijing, 15th June, 2026:   China on Monday welcomed the understanding reached between the United States and Iran to end the conflict that has affected the West Asian region and disrupted global energy markets.
Reacting to the announcement by Donald Trump that Washington and Tehran had finalized a deal to end their 107-day war, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian expressed support for a peaceful resolution and urged all sides to adhere to the agreed framework.
Lin told a media briefing:
"We hope the document will be signed according to the agreed timetable and all relevant parties will stay committed to peaceful solutions and resolve issues through dialogue and negotiation."
China also called for the early reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most critical energy shipping routes.
The strait is a vital corridor for global oil and liquefied natural gas exports, and disruptions there during the conflict contributed to volatility in international energy markets. China, as one of the world's largest energy importers, has a strong interest in ensuring the uninterrupted flow of oil and gas through the waterway.
The reported agreement between the United States and Iran has been closely watched worldwide because of its implications for:

  • Global energy prices
  • Maritime security
  • International trade routes
  • Stability in West Asia
  • Economic recovery in energy-importing countries
China's response reflects its longstanding position that international disputes should be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue rather than military confrontation. Beijing has repeatedly advocated political solutions to conflicts in the region while emphasizing the importance of safeguarding global supply chains and energy security.
