Chinese FM Wang Yi to attend BRICS NSAs meeting in Delhi
Business To Business, New Delhi, 18th June, 2026: Wang Yi will attend the meeting of National Security Advisors (NSAs) of the BRICS countries in New Delhi on June 22–23, according to an announcement by China's Foreign Ministry.
The confirmation was made by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian during a media briefing in Beijing on Thursday. He said Wang Yi would participate in the meeting at the invitation of the host country.
The BRICS National Security Advisors Meeting is a high-level security dialogue involving representatives from the 11 member states of BRICS. The platform enables member countries to discuss:
- Regional and global security challenges
- Counter-terrorism cooperation
- Cybersecurity issues
- Strategic and geopolitical developments
- Coordination on international security matters
Wang Yi's participation is notable because it provides an opportunity for senior security and diplomatic officials from China and India to interact amid efforts to stabilize ties between the two Asian powers.
The meeting in New Delhi is expected to bring together national security representatives from all BRICS members, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa and the newer members of the bloc.
BRICS has expanded significantly in recent years and has increasingly sought to coordinate positions on global governance, economic development, and security issues. The NSA meeting serves as an important preparatory forum ahead of broader BRICS engagements and summits.
Wang Yi's attendance underscores China's continued engagement with the BRICS framework and highlights the group's growing role as a platform for dialogue among major emerging economies on strategic and security matters.
