Chopra wins javelin throw silver in CWG, bronze for Yashvir

Business To Business, Glasgow, 01th August, 2026:   Indian javelin star Neeraj Chopra secured the silver medal, while Yashvir Singh produced a stunning final-round effort to claim bronze in the men's javelin throw at the Commonwealth Games on Friday.
Competing in challenging conditions, the 28-year-old Tokyo Olympic champion recorded a season's best throw of 85.83 metres in his second attempt, which earned him second place on the podium.
The mark marginally surpassed the 85.69m Chopra registered while finishing fourth at the Doha Diamond League on June 19, his only other competition of the season.
Yashvir Singh, 24, made a memorable Commonwealth Games debut by producing a personal best throw of 85.41m with his sixth and final attempt to secure the bronze medal.
His previous personal best stood at 83.72m. Yashvir had been in seventh place after the penultimate round, with his best effort of 81.33m coming in the third attempt, before delivering a dramatic final throw to join Chopra on the podium.
The result ensured a strong finish for India in the event, with its athletes claiming silver and bronze in the men's javelin competition.
