Heat wave conditions in southern, western Nepal districts

Business To Business, Kathmandu, 23rd May, 2026:   Authorities in Nepal have issued warnings for extreme heat and possible heat wave conditions across parts of the country’s southwest region from Saturday through Monday.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Authority, several areas in the southern districts of Lumbini Province and Sudurpashchim Province could experience temperatures exceeding 40°C.
The agency said moderate heat waves are likely in parts of the western Terai belt. Residents in six districts have been advised to remain cautious due to the risk of intense heat:

  • Banke District
  • Dang District
  • Bardiya District
  • Doti District
  • Kailali District
  • Kanchanpur District
Officials urged people to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, stay hydrated, and take precautions against heat-related illnesses during the warning period.
