Business Aajkal, New Delhi, 16 June 2025: UN Climate Chief Simon Stiell stated on Monday that despite a year filled with negative headlines, many of the world's largest economies are demonstrating encouraging signs of progress on climate action, indicating that limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius remains achievable.
Speaking at the opening of the mid-year UN climate conference in Bonn, Germany, Stiell emphasized that the escalating climate impacts across all nations underscore the importance of continued international cooperation.
He remarked, “This year, beneath the noisier negative news, there are plenty of good reasons for optimism. We are seeing green lights for climate actions from many of the world's biggest economies, sending powerful demand signals to investors and doers.”
